The past weeks happening in the world of Tottenham Hotspur

PL. Spurs 1-0 C Palace

Nice little well deserved win for Spurs if left a tad late.  Chances were spurned, Vorm never properly tested, Spurs ere good at corners, yes, they were actually good, and from one.  Lamella out swinger to Kane who leaped like a salmon to head goal wards from about 10yds and new boy Wanyama headed it in past their goalie from close range.  If Victor hadn’t been there Janssen was sure to pounce. The best report to read is that of Paul Smith’s on the Spurs Odyssey site.   My own irreverent babbling on the game can be re-read Here.  To whet your appetite here is Pauls first paragraph:-

“Making his home debut, Spurs midfielder Victor Wanyama won the hearts of home fans with a crucial 82nd minute header, which broke the deadlock in a well-fought London derby match, and left Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace side pointless after two games. The goal came at a time when a draw looked on the cards, which would have also made it a disappointing start for Spurs. The four point return from the opening two games is a respectable one, leaving us well placed behind the four teams that have won both games, and Everton, who are ahead on goals scored only.”

PL2. Reading 1-4 Spurs
On Monday the U23 PL2 team had a nice little 1-4 victory away to reading.  Edwards scored two, Millar and my man Shay Harrison got on the score sheet.  Here is a flavour of Ray Lo’s usual excellent report on the Spurs Odyssey Site.

“It was a cloudy afternoon that became warm and sunny for Spurs’ trip to Reading’s training ground. Spurs lost their opening game of the season at home to Everton while the hosts beat promoted Arsenal away 2-0. Last season the game was played at Adams Park and ended 1-1 thanks to an equaliser from Will Miller……. ” Read more Here for all the stats, teams etc.

Under 18s.     Spurs 0-1 Spammer.

Unfortunately our youngsters fell 0-1 to the West Ham U18s which is never good, but it is early days for our future stars and no doubt they will learn from it.  You can read the official report Here  But here is the opening paragraph:-

“Brandon Austin saved a first-half penalty but our Under-18s couldn’t capitalise and find a route back into the game as they lost 1-0 at West Ham United on Saturday (August 20). The goalkeeper kept out Kemp’s spot kick shortly before half-time, having earlier been beaten by a fierce drive from Alfie Lewis. Kemp went closest to adding to the scoreline at the start of the second period when his curler came back off the woodwork, but a lack of clear shooting chances for us meant we suffered our first Under-18 Premier League defeat of the season at the Hammers’ Little Heath academy facility.”

STADIUM CONSTRUCTION

stadium construction has come on a pace. Lots of work happened on a very hot Tuesday  – two concrete pours, steel erected, two shuttering erections on the cores, and the first 6 rakes were fitted to the NE corner.  These supply the structural support for the seating area, and with them, the build does start to look like a stadium.  The rakes need to be placed on the piers stretching from the first to the second floors so that the 2nd floor can be formed on top.  Have a wee look:-
