The past weeks happenings in the world of Tottenham Hotspur
THE UNDER 18 TEAM had a good 4-1 win at Hotspur Way on 13th against Southampton. Lots of new academy’s scholars on show and it will be interesting to follow their progress over the years to come. Good luck to you all. The official match report can be read Here
Unfortunately the new UNDER 23 TEAM in the new PL2 competition lost 0-2 at home (Stevenage) on Monday night to Everton. My great hope, Shayon Harrison didn’t score from the penalty spot either. Joe Pritchard after the match put it down to a loss in concentration. Very disappointing. Oduwa also got a game, let’s hope he buckles down to it once more. Lots of reports in the media laud our young players but results under Ugo Ehiogu dont always bear this out. I know at youth level it is all about producing players for the first team and not necessarily the results. However, once they reach the development squad or even the U21 upwards, they should also be taught about winning and the importance of winning, and how to win. I’m not so sure this is happening under Ehiogu tutelage. I certainly hope they take the Euro League they are in seriously and the PL2 as that has been brought in to prepare the youth for the rough and tumble of professional football. SPURS LADIES have continued their unbeaten pre-season this time with a draw against a Cheat$ki Development team. Here is the official report:-
Unbeaten so far in their summer schedule, the team this time took on Women’s Super League giants Chelsea’s development squad in a friendly at Hotspur Way.Maya Vio grabbed an equaliser to maintain Spurs’ unblemished record after friendlies against Enfield, Middlesbrough, Arsenal, Watford and now Chelsea.”We played better as the game progressed and that’s what you are looking for in pre-season,” said manager Karen Hills.”Chelsea played in a 4-4-2 system with a diamond shape in midfield but once we got to grips with that, settled and found our rhythm, we did really well. It’s another positive step in pre-season.”Spurs now face WSL Reading’s development squad in their final friendly at Frederick Knight Sports Ground, Tottenham on Sunday (2pm).Their FA Women’s Premier League campaign kicks-off against Swindon Town at Brimsdown Rovers FC on Sunday week, 28 August, also 2pm. Full match report is Here
The FIRST TEAM drew 1-1 away to Everton. A good point after a poor start. New signing Vincent Janssen thought he had a debut goal to celebrate, but alas no. Harry the HurriKane has admitted since that he isn’t 100% fit.

Unfortunately, HUGO retired hurt and it has since been revealed that he has a hamstring problem and will be out for 4 weeks. This, remember, is a Spurs injury 4 weeks and usually bears no resemblance to the Gregorian Calendar. Apparently Spurs have increased their interest in the Espanol 21yo goalie Pau Lopez. Last I read is that they are hoping to finalise a deal by this Saturday (20th)
Writing about PLAYER MOVEMENTS it should be noted that N’Jie is still with us and still in Poch’s plans. N’Koudou is not with us and depending on which paper you read, he has either been holed up these past 3 weeks in London or racking up the air miles jetting in every other day to imminently sign for Spurs. Apparently Bentaleb can go, but only on a full purchase – £12m being quoted and Yedlin is being connected to Sunderland and Derby. Carrol I just read (19th) from News Now is being chased by both Swansea and Sunderland. Spare a thought for Dominic Ball, after being transferred to Rotherham he was immediately put into the Miller’s first team and was trounced 3-0 away to Brighton.

Sad to report that KEITH BLUNT outer ex Youth Coach in the 1980s passed away at the age of 77 after a short illness. Due to the success he had with our youth programme back then, he was invited to become the Head of the National Centre for Football Excellence at Lilleshall. Rest in Peace Keith, thank you for your time as a Spur and the wonderful service you gave the Club.
